Schools and Childcare
The wide range of schools and day care centres in Byford and the surrounding area means quality education is close to home at The Glades.
Nestled at the foothills of the Darling Scarp, The Glades is a place where you can enjoy the picturesque natural surrounds while being perfectly positioned for work, family, and adventure.
You’re only around 35 minutes from both Perth City and Perth Airport. Fast, direct links to other major centres are right on your doorstep via the Tonkin Highway, just five minutes away, and the Kwinana Freeway, 15 minutes away. At The Glades, you can savour the peace and serenity of nature without sacrificing your lifestyle.
Work is currently underway to extend the Tonkin Highway with a 14km, four-lane dual carriageway from Thomas Road through to South Western Highway. This $1bn project will improve traffic flow and access to Byford, streamlining travel to the airport, the CBD, and major industrial hubs. It’s also set to create an estimated 4,400 local jobs.
Scheduled for completion in 2028, the Tonkin Highway extension will make trips to and from Perth CBD faster and easier. And for FIFO workers, getting to and from the airport will be smoother than ever. You can spend less time travelling and get home to your family sooner.
Safety and access along Orton Road improved in early 2025 thanks to upgrades as part of the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale’s “Hypergrowth Road Projects”. Upgrades included road widening, pavement rehabilitation, drain cleaning, and lighting design improvements. Orton Road connects The Glades to Soldiers Road, Byford Train Station, and Tonkin Highway, making it an important accessway for our fast-growing community.
The new Byford train station is less than five minutes’ drive from The Glades and 400m north of Abernethy Road. Set to open in October 2025, the new station will offer a seamless 42-minute train ride from Byford to Perth along the Armadale line. With 400 parking spots available, a 2-zone fare cap keeping travel prices low, and 8km of high-quality shared path running alongside the extended rail line, the new Byford train station will make it easier to get where you need to go.
The Kwinana train station is less than 20 minutes’ drive west of The Glades. Sitting on the Mandurah-Perth rail line, you have the option to head into the city, or further south to Mandurah, perfect for reaching places the Armadale line doesn’t cover.
